BRIGHAM CITY, UT – Nora Matson Gahley, 87, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at her home in Brigham City, UT.
She was born Dec. 26, 1925 in Mapleton, UT, a daughter of Afton Monroe and Flora Stone Matson. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1944.
Nora married Frank Gahley on Dec. 31, 1949 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. They were later divorced.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Young Women’s organization, as a visiting teacher and did extraction work.
Nora worked as a bookkeeper for many companies, the last one being Paul’s Market in Nampa until she was 81.
She enjoyed dancing, loved music, and her family.
Surviving are five sons: Carl Gahley, PA; Blair (Cheryl) Gahley, UT; Paul Gahley, FL; Tod (VeAnn) Gahley, OR; Kirk (Donna) Gahley, ID; 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Lois Budzynski, Elaine Reschke and Gayle Cole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two granddaughters, Stacey and Trina Gahley, one grandson, Christopher Webber, and one sister, Ella Lindsay.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at the Salem City Cemetery, 130 East 965 South.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 13, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT.
