Dorothy “Dotti” A. Martin, of Pollock Pines, CA, age 75, passed away in her sleep Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 in her home.
Dotti was born Aug. 31, 1937 to Rowe and Ella Bolton in American Falls, ID. After high school graduation she moved to southern California to attend college. She was an award-winning competitor in fast-draw pistol shooting, drove demolition derby cars, and loved motorcycle riding.
She married Richard “Rick” Martin who was a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Dept. Sergeant Detective, and between them they created a “Brady Bunch” family of her three girls and his five children. The family settled in Elk Grove, CA.
After a career as a dispatcher for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, she and her husband retired and spent the rest of their lives in their beloved Sierra Nevada mountains. Her favorite pastimes were talking on the phone and buying stuff. She loved her family and her friends, and will be deeply missed.
She is predeceased by her parents; her sister Marjorie Wegner; her children JoLinda A., Jannette S., and Joni L.; her beloved husband Rick; and her companion/husband George Rice. She is survived by her step-children Sandy Martin of Salem, MA; Melany Holton of Lake Havasu, AZ; Susan Hunter of Lodi, CA; Karen Murray of Alta Loma, CA; Rick Martin of Valley Springs, CA; her grandsons Sean Martin of Placerville, CA, and Stephen Stroud of Henderson, NV. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
