Reuben James Davis

Reuben James Davis was born in Salem, Massachusetts on Oct. 4, 1933 and passed away in his home on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, surrounded by family. He was the third of five children born to Arthur Dower and Althea Alice Davis.

“Jim” was drafted into the Korean War and served his country for two years. He spent about 30 years working at Midas as a mechanic and retired in May of 2000. He was known for working hard, sometimes with multiple jobs to take care of his family while his wife was very ill and unable to work.

He is survived by his sister, Eva Rice, Oklahoma, three daughters, Sylvia Davis, Enid, OK, Sharon Valdez (Dennis), Midvale, UT, and Jennifer England (Christopher), Aberdeen, friends, Bill and Judy Chapman, West Jordan, UT, as well as countless grandchildren, step-children (who stayed in touch by choice after he divorced their mother) and step-grandchildren all over the United States.

He is preceded in death by two wives, Jeanette B. Davis in 1980, G. Sue Davis in 2000; his father in 1998; his mother in 1954 while he was serving in the Korean War; two sisters, Shirley in 1995, and Estelle in 1977; one brother, Arthur Jr. in 1956; two daughters, Jeanine in 2012 and JoAnna in 2005; and two sons, Steven in 2011 and a child who died in infancy in approximately 1961.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s and staff at Alliance Home Health & Hospice for their excellent care and support to the family during his last days. It was greatly appreciated.

Jim, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Jim, we will miss you with all our hearts and will remember you for the love you always expressed and how your actions backed up what you said.

We will celebrate Jim’s life by having a viewing Friday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m., at 4760 South 200 East, Washington Terrace, UT 84405. A graveside service will be held immediately afterward at the Washington Heights Memorial Park at 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT 84403.
