Irene F. Kysar, (aka Nama) 87, passed away August 26, 2015 at her home in Port Ludlow, Washington following a brief illness.
Irene is survived by daughter Joette Nystul of Poulsbo WA, son Kevin Pollard of Rockland ID and step-son Fritz Kysar of Fredrick, MD. Grandchildren: Cayce Gambill of Colorado Springs, CO, Melani Wyatt of Gillette, WY, Alexandra Preston and Garrett Kysar of Fredrick, MD and three great-grandchildren.
She was born January 8, 1928 to Iva (Daniels) Vanderhule and Clarence “Doc” Vanderhule in American Falls, ID where she lived until high school graduation. She later graduated from Hagar business school in Salt Lake City before returning to AF.
Following a brief marriage to Bob Barron, she married John K Pollard. Together they owned and operated the Tavern bar and lounge in AF, as well as a farm/ranch outside Rockland ID.
Irene later married her old grade school friend, the “love of her life,” Fredrick Theodore (Teddy bear) Kysar on January 13, 1971. They moved to Lakeside MT where they were co- owners/operators of telecommunications contracting businesses spanning locations across the U.S. While in MT she enjoyed golf, skiing, sailing, fishing and her Bridge club.
Following the death of Ted, she moved to Port Ludlow, WA to be near her daughter, where she discovered new passions for beach combing, clam digging, oystering, crabbing and Cribbage.
Irene had many friends all across the U.S. She was especially loved for her great sense of humor and outgoing personality and was often described as “a real character and lots of fun to be around.”
A memorial will be held in honor of Irene at the Bay Club in Port Ludlow at a date yet to be announced.
