Margaret Ora Cox Gilson passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Eagar, AZ.
Margaret was born Feb. 20, 1918 in Rockland, ID, to Perry Cox and Rachel Hunter Cox. She was raised and attended school in the Rockland Valley. At the age of 16, she married Donald ‘Mert’ Gilson on Oct. 30, 1934. They were blessed with one son, Donald Lee Gilson.
Margaret spent many years as a waitress in American Falls, many of them at the Hilltop Cafe. After retiring, Mert and Margaret spent many years traveling to Arizona during the winter to escape the cold, windy Idaho weather. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, camping and fishing, and spending time with family and friends. She was also an excellent cook.
Margaret is survived by: a daughter-in-law, Carol Gilson of Meridian, ID; two granddaughters, Deanna (Scott) Hamblin of Eagar, AZ, and Nancy Gilson of Meridian, ID; one sister, Rowene Morris; and one brother, Glen (Ida Faye) Cox; four great-granddaughters, Jessica (Andy) Parry, Rachel Hamblin, Blake Hamblin and Karalyn Gilson; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hudson Parry and Hinklee Parry; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald ‘Mert’ Gilson; her son, Donald Lee Gilson; one brother, Wayne Cox; and two sisters, Nora Dell Hartley and Jean Rhom.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1, at the Falls View Cemetery, American Falls. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared at www.davisrosemortuary.com.
