Edward Kucera

Edward L. “Ed” Kucera peacefully passed away on Saturday morning, Aug. 27, 2016. Ed was born on Nov. 3, 1928, one of ten children, to Joseph and Mary Kucera in American Falls, ID.

He received his education in American Falls and graduated from high school in 1947. He married Elaine Phelps on Jan. 2, 1949, and they were parents of four children. He was a successful farmer; private pilot; President of the National Flying Farmers Association; member of the Power County Highway District Board; and restored antique cars. After retiring, they moved to Darby, MT, in 1979; spent winters in Mesa, AZ, and later moved to Hamilton, MT, in 2006.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings and daughter, Rosemary Guess. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine; children, Becky (Steve) Hicks; Randy Kucera; Roberta “Bert” (Greg) Baker; grandchildren, Brandon Hicks, Regrin (Roger) Bocksnick, Heather Guess, Kimberly Guess, Joseph Baker, Katy Baker and Lindsey Baker; great-grandchildren, Tony Black, Tristyn Hicks and Amelia Rosslyn “Mia” Bocksnick; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A vigil service was held Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m., with Deacon Jim Kaney officiating; the Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. with concelebrants Rev. James A. Conner and Rev. Jack Darragh. Both services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 411 South Fifth, Hamilton, MT. Committal services will be held in American Falls at a later date. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff of the Marcus Daly Hospice Services for Ed’s final days.
