Owen Erastus Wells, age 80, passed away on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, in Billings, MT, due to long term complications of diabetes along with an accidental traumatic brain injury.
Owen was born in Springfield, ID, to Loren and Alta “Pearl” Hancock Wells on Sept. 2, 1936. He grew up on a farm near Springfield and graduated from Aberdeen High School.
He attended the Trade and Industrial School at Idaho State College (now University) in Pocatello where he became proficient at the upholstery trade. After completing the upholstery course he obtained a position at The Upholstery Center in Billings, MT, which ultimately went out of business. Then, needing excellent medical insurance due to diabetes, he went to work for the Billings School District as a custodian in a junior high school.
While living in Billings he was ordained as a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and often participated in temple work after the Billings Temple was built and dedicated.
Appreciation is expressed to the several doctors who cared for him over the years, and to the entire staff of St. John’s Lutheran Home, where he received excellent care. St. John’s cares for seniors without regard to race, religion, etc.
Owen was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Alta Lilace Wells.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jay Loren Wells and Alice “Deanna” Jacobsen Wells.
A viewing will be held at the LDS Lakeview Ward at Springfield, ID, on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 12 noon with a funeral service immediately after at 1 p.m.
