Donna May Palmer Welch of Aberdeen, Idaho passed away Dec. 3, 2016 peacefully at home after celebrating her 92nd birthday with family and friends.
She was born Nov. 19, 1924, to John W. Palmer and Nellie Warner Palmer in Malad, Idaho.
She grew up on a farm and attended school in Aberdeen. She married Ellis J. Welch in May of 1941 in Pocatello. Their children, Carolyn (Jerry) Soehnlein, Michael (Faye) Welch, Dennis (Sandra) Welch, Jeffrey (Suprena) Welch, were all raised in Aberdeen.
Donna worked at Simplot Processing Plant and Lamb Weston, later she worked at Aberdeen City Hall and enjoyed writing stories for The Aberdeen Times. She belonged to Aberdeen Art Guild for many years and painted pictures for family and friends, as well as selling pictures to some of them.
She raised flowers and vegetables all her life, and particularly loved flowers. She also loved canning her own vegetables. Donna and Ellis belonged to the Boots and Saddle Club and enjoyed the socializing. She loved spending time with all her grandchildren, great, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis, son Dennis, brothers Farrell and Neldon. She is survived by her children Carolyn, Mike, Jeff, many grandchildren and her sisters Karen, Denise and Jackie.
There was a tribute held at Davis-Rose Mortuary and burial at Aberdeen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Aberdeen Foodbank.
