Penelope Ophelia Hunt Bone “Penny”, 83, of Manti, UT, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at home of natural causes. Penny was born to Merlin Jefferson “Jay” and Ophelia “Felix” Naomi Hansen Hunt on July 21, 1940 in American Falls, ID. She graduated from Patti Welder High School in Victoria, TX.
She met Bruce Bone at church when her father was stationed in Tachikawa, Japan. They fell in love and were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on April 1, 1960.
Penny was a loving and devoted mother to their nine children: Kathryn (Michael) Whitworth, Rigby, ID; Mathew (Paula) Bone, West Valley City, UT; Janette (Dan) McClanahan, Enoch, UT; Roger (Nadine) Bone, Taylorsville, UT; Brent Bone, Taylorsville, UT; Pamela Sanders, Cedar City, UT; Nora (Mitch) Peterson, Manti, UT; Jefferson (Cherie) Bone, St. George, UT; and, David (Desiree) Bone, Manti, UT. She had 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was a loving big sister to her siblings: Luaine Furgason, West Valley City, UT; Norman (Joeleen) Hunt, Rupert, ID; Utahna (Michael) Waddoups, Canon City, CO; Tamara Black, Bountiful, UT; and sister-in-law to Barbara Hunt, Layton, UT.
Penny is preceded in death by her sweetheart, Bruce; her parents; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Michael Whitworth; siblings Merlin Jay Hunt, Gerry Lee Hunt, and Sandra Marie Hunt; brother-in-law, Homer Furgason.
Funeral services for Penny will be on Friday, March 8, at 11 a.m. in the Manti Tabernacle, 90 S. Main St., Manti, where friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Manti Cemetery.
