With the stranglehold the Republican Party has over Idaho
voters, there really weren’t many surprises as results came in from
election night Tuesday, Nov. 8.
It’s hard to dent the armor when you run as a Democrat.
Power County voters only had two local area races to decide between, but Republicans
finished on top there as well, according to the unofficial results.
Incumbent State Sen. Jim Guthrie easily outdistanced
Independent Mike Saville in Power County and throughout
District 28. Guthrie collected 11,435 votes and 76 percent of
the vote, compared to Saville’s 3,612 votes and 24 percent.
The most interested race solely in Power County was the
race for Power County Clerk. It didn’t end up as close as we expected. Incumbent Republican
Sharee Sprague captured about 70 percent of the vote, 1,359
