Myrl Wesley Davidson 5-10-23

1927 – 2023
Myrl Wesley Davidson was born Sept. 20, 1927 at Parker, ID, to Arland Lorenzo and Sarah Elizabeth Pearce Davidson. He was their sixth child, their third son. Later a younger sister was also added to the family.
His family lived on a farm in Parker until 1932. Then they moved to two different farms in Egin. He attended school in Egin and in Edmonds, graduating from Edmonds High School in May, 1945. He was valedictorian of his graduating class.
His family was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was baptized in the canal by the church house.
He served a mission for The Church, from November 1948 to May 1951, serving in the Spanish-American Mission, with headquarters in El Paso, TX. He labored in San Jose, CA, and New Mexico.
Almost as soon as he got home from his mission, the draft board was waiting for him and he was inducted into the army at Fort Lewis, WA, in December of 1951. He served for two years, mostly as a private first class, and advancing to corporal. He was selected to go to the intelligence school at Fort Riley, KS, and then was assigned to serve in Vienna, Austria in the intelligence unit there. He returned home in November of 1953.
Myrl met Shirlene Siddoway at the telephone office where she worked, when he went to pick up a girl he was taking on a date. They were married on June 15, 1955 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They first lived in Egin Bench, where Myrl farmed and had a herd of dairy cattle. Two daughters, Kathy and Denise, were born to them there. Then in 1959 they moved to Aberdeen, where Myrl continued to farm and run a dairy. Three boys were born to them while living there: Brett Myrl, Douglas Eugene, and Russell Mark.
Myrl farmed for many years, growing potatoes, wheat, oats, and alfalfa, finally retiring from the farm and selling the dairy cattle. He then worked several years for Pleasant Valley Potato, run by the Wahlen family in Aberdeen.
Shirlene passed away in May of 1998. Myrl then married Eva Clinger Stoker on Nov. 28, 1998. The two of them served a mission for the Church from November 1999 to May 2001, serving in the New York New York City North Spanish-speaking Mission. Myrl and Eva later served from July 2004 to July 2010 as ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Myrl and Eva moved to Sandy, UT, to live with her son Paul and his wife, Debbie, in November 2014, when Eva’s health became frail enough that Dad could no longer take care of her. She passed away May 7, 2015.
He loved making small wooden cars, trucks, and trains to give away to children, his own, his grandchildren, and any other children. He has given away literally hundreds of these toys over the past few years. His cars have gone to shelters, to hospitals, to nurseries, to agencies serving children, in places from Utah to Oregon to Fiji, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and to Africa.
Myrl served in various Church callings through the years: bishopric counselor, full-time missionary, stake missionary, senior missionary, ward finance clerk, stake clerk, Sunday school teacher, and always as a home teacher or ministering brother.
He was in relatively good health until the end of March, when he fell and hurt himself badly. After a couple of stays in the hospital and a rehabilitation center, Myrl died in his home on May 3, 2023.
Myrl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirlene, his wife Eva, most of his siblings, his son Brett, and his step-sons Steven and Mike Stoker. He is survived by a sister, Anna, by his children Kathy (Nelson) Farrier, Denise (Sheldon) Greaves, Douglas Davidson, Russell (Morena) Davidson, Brett’s wife Kim, his step-daughter Becky Stoker, his step-sons David (Gloria), Dorian, and Paul (Debbie) Stoker, and his step-daughters-in-law Peggy and Shauna Stoker. He has 14 grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren. There are also many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at Falcon Park Ward, 9119 South 1300 East, Sandy, UT, with a viewing from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be on Wednesday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at the Aberdeen Cemetery in Aberdeen, ID. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
