Kariann (Petersen) Williams passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023 in Mesquite, NV. Kari’s husband, Joe, children and dear friends surrounded her as she left behind the relentless attacks and extreme pain of cancer.
Kari was born in January of 1955 in Moscow, ID, to Floyd and Dorothy Petersen. She graduated from American Falls High School and the University of Idaho, where she studied finance and business; was active in the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
After college, Kari married Philip S. Defenbach. They had two children together, daughter Caitlin Rose and son Scott Sheridan. They later divorced.
Kari and the children moved to Island Park, ID, where she began a successful career in banking. She met Joe Williams, the love of her life, and they married in May of 1995.
Kari was an excellent cook and solver of crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed sewing, playing cards, and spending time with her grandkids. She and Joe enjoyed playing pool, snowmobiling and exploring the beautiful scenery around Island Park on/in Joe’s latest “fast toy”.
During the last few years Kari loved attending The Little Church in the Pines where she chose Jesus and enjoyed fellowship with other believers.
Kari was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her husband, Joe; two stepdaughters, Megan Williams and Keri Delosreyes; and five grandchildren, Jubilee, Kaston, Brooklyn, Bentley and Everly. Kari also left behind six siblings: Kris (Ken) Burgemeister, Kay (Adrian) Wegner, Kimi (Jim) Casad, Kirk Petersen (Glen Bafia), Kevin (Darla) Petersen and Ron (Melinda) Michaelson.
Kari was an intelligent, kind, gentle, giving and loving Daughter of the Kind and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
