Elton “Clint” Phillips, was born May 27, 1933, at home in Aberdeen, ID. He was the son of Eddie J. Phillips and Dorothy “Ione” Muirbrook.
He had two brothers and two sisters: Wayne Phillips; Arthur (Ruth Ann) Phillips of Middleton, ID; Verla Rae Ottley of Shelley, ID; and Patricia Dee (Lester) Wilson of Salt Lake City, UT.
Clint was active in school athletics and scouts during his school years. He was an Eagle Scout, and a scout leader for many years. He excelled in football and basketball. During high school years, he met the love of his life.
He married his high school sweetheart, Myrna Alice Morgan, from American Falls on Aug. 24, 1951, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with six children, four sons and two daughters: Dennis (Cathy) Phillips of Kuna, ID; Alan (Darlene) Phillips of Darby, MT; Penny (Steven) Adams of Sterling, ID; Karen (Gordon) Gunter of Burley, ID; Stuart Phillips of LaConner, WA; and Joe (Cindy) Phillips, Cottonwood, ID.
Clint was the auto mechanic instructor at Aberdeen High School for 26 years. He also farmed and had a small dairy. His passions were woodworking, rock hounding, gardening, jewelry with opals, and hunting with his sons. He enjoyed adventures with his boys. While they hunted, he came back with rocks.
Clint was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served three missions in South Dakota, New York, and Iowa with his wife Myrna. He served in various church callings.
Clint loved making his trays, giving many to people throughout the community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Myrna, and six children. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wayne, and son-in-law Gordon Gunter. He leaves behind a loving legacy of 23 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation was from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 149 W. Central Avenue, Aberdeen.
