03/28/1941 – 10/19/2023
Jessie Dale Grimmett, a woman of deep faith, gentle spirit, and unyielding love, was called home Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023.
She was born in Aberdeen, ID, on March 28, 1941, to Jesse and Mary Holt. Jessie was raised amidst the rolling fields and humble homesteads of Aberdeen. Jessie’s life was deeply rooted in the values of hard work, devotion, and family. Her early education at American Falls High School instilled in her a strong sense of community and a lifelong love for learning. This foundation would serve as the bedrock for the life that she built, a life of service and love, a life that touched countless others.
Upon completing her education, Jessie embraced her role as a homemaker and mother, a testament to her gentle heart and loving soul. Her home was a welcoming place where everyone felt at home.
Jessie’s passionate devotion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was the cornerstone of her life. As a temple worker, she served with a humble heart and open arms to others. Her voice, a melodious instrument, uplifted many. She served as a chorister, a Relief Society Secretary and Young Women’s Teacher; she guided and inspired, always leading by example.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to sing alongside her sisters, their harmonious voices intertwining in songs of faith and family. A wonderful seamstress, Jessie had the ability to weave threads of love into every stitch. Her love for travel was as vast as the open road, each journey an adventure waiting to unfold. Above all, Jessie cherished her family.
Jessie was a woman of many virtues. Passionate in her faith, gentle in her spirit, and loving in her heart, she lived her life as a testament to these values. Her legacy is not measured in the years she spent on this earth, but in the love she poured into every moment, every interaction, every stitch and every song.
Jessie is survived by: her daughter, Kerrie K. (Brian) Hess of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Dorene (Myral) Thornton of Bountiful, UT; and brother, Robert (Linda) Walker of Horseshoe Bend, ID.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Holt and Mary T. Walker; husband, Gary Grimmett; sister, Eileen Kendell; and niece, Jenna Walker.
