Judith Shackelford 9-11-24

December 31, 1956 – August 27, 2024
Judith Eileen (Maisch) Shackelford, lovingly known as Judy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, in Boise, ID, surrounded by her beloved children and grandson. She was born on Dec. 31, 1956, in American Falls, ID, to Buster Maisch and Marilyn Bethke. After the untimely passing of her father when she was just a baby, Judy was adopted by Fred and Valera Maisch, who cherished her deeply.
Judy grew up in Aberdeen, ID, where she attended school and made many cherished friends, graduating from Aberdeen High School in 1975. While in school she met Clay Shackelford and they were married on May 28, 1976. Together, they had three children: Josh, Sara, and Lyndsey. Although they divorced in 1991, they remained committed to their children and shared many memories throughout their lives.
Judy had a successful career in the banking industry, working in both Idaho and Oregon. She was known for her dedication, warmth, and ability to forge lifelong friendships with her colleagues and clients alike.
Later in life, Judy was introduced to her birth mother and discovered that she had several half-siblings: Cheryl McDaniel, Bonnie Miera, Kricket Ray, Kami Cornie Ridgeway, and Karla Stewart. She became close with them, adding another layer of love and connection to her life.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Valera Maisch, her sister, Mary Ann Jessup, and her fiancé Jim Rexroad. She is survived by her sister, Sue Maisch of Glenwood Springs, CO; her brothers, Roger Maisch of Aberdeen, ID, and David (Jeannie) Maisch of Tucson, AZ; her son, Joshua (Jennifer) Shackelford of Gilmer, TX; her daughters, Sara (Shaun) Wilcox of Boise, ID, and Lyndsey (Lukas) Day of Amarillo, TX. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Hunter Wilcox, Sadie Shackelford, Llewyn Day, and Sophie Day.
Judy’s greatest love was for the Lord and her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart, strong spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her. Her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at the First Mennonite Church in Aberdeen, ID, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the First Mennonite Church.
