Mother, sister, aunt and grandma passed away May 16, 2014 in Pocatello, Idaho.
Laurel was born July 4, 1929 to William Harmon Adkins and Linnie Lee Pennington. She got her schooling in American Falls, Idaho. She is the eleventh of twelve children.
She Married J. Harding George in 1947 and to this union came four children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J. Harding George, siblings Ethel Stanger, Bertha Sawyer, Elsie Hunt, Ada Nelson, Ellen Hawkley, Lillian Funk, Everett (Bud), James Adkins and Wesley Adkins.
Laurel is survived by her children Linda (Dennis) Schumacher, Pocatello, ID; J. William “Bill” (Nancy), David H. (Kathleen) both of Aberdeen; And Janiel (Jim) Nelson of Rexburg; Eighteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She loved them all dearly. She is also survived by sisters Linnie (Calvin) Stevens, Orem, Utah; Laura Peterson, Washington, UT; sister in law Betty Adkins; Monteview, ID; Jessie (George) Brown of McCammon and Darlene Adkins of American Falls, ID.
She loved music, dancing, sewing, crafts, and art she won many prizes for the outrageous hats she made. It was her great pleasure to play piano and taught fiddlers for many years.
Laurel and her husband were involved in the potato industry processing, packing and shipping for many years. They also enjoyed dancing, camping and movies.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Aberdeen Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation will be on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Davis-Rose Mortuary.
Interment will be at the Aberdeen Cemetery.
