Newell Moss, age 74, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 at his home in Fairview, Utah after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 24, 1940 to Norman Moss and Gladys Johnson. Newell’s mother died when he was two years old. His father then married Lola Robbins and they raised their family of 10 children in Rockland, Idaho.
Newell married his sweetheart, Mary Burton, Dec. 19, 1960, and they had eight children. Due to Newell’s work in sales, they moved many times. Eventually they spent 20 years in Mapleton, and 16 years ago settled in Fairview, Utah.
His heart was with his family, staying in touch was always a priority. He had a God-given talent to connect with anybody he met and instantly became friends. He never knew a stranger.
Newell’s passion for horses began at an early age and grew into a brand well known throughout the United States and Mexico. He created a legacy of Quarter Horses that will live on for generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman, his mother, Gladys, his step-mother, Lola, his brother, Travis, and a grandson, Mason Peacock.
Newell is survived by his bride of 54 years, Mary, their children Shelly Farley (Dave), Ryan Moss (Vickie), Doyle Moss (Caryn), Rena Peacock (Alan), Nicole Allan (Kenyan), Brandon Moss (Brandi), Angela Nichols (Scot), Amy Pond (Jeff), 34 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 41 horses with 20 more on the way.
