He attended grade school in Newdale, high school in Sugar City, and Idaho State College in Pocatello. During his first year of marriage, he taught at O.E. Bell junior high in Idaho Falls, but then moved to American Falls and began faming. Years later, he moved his family to Brigham City, UT, and worked one winter at the Thiokol missile plant near Tremonton, then returned to the farm the next spring. Later, he served three terms as Power County Commissioner.

After retiring from farming, he was employed as the weed control supervisor for Power County.

Seth was a quiet, hardworking man. He had a variety of interests. He had a pilot’s license, and enjoyed flying, exploring southern Idaho, camping, scuba diving, and sailing — to name a few.
