Gary Allen Mayer, 68, passed away the evening of March 13, 2016, at the Valley Medical Center, Kent, Washington as a result of a severe brain infection.
Gary was born April 20, 1947 to Alfred and June (Hoffmann) Mayer in American Falls, Idaho.
He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1965 and in 1966 joined the United States Air Force. After his four years of service he returned to Boise, Idaho where he obtained his associates degree in business management. He then joined the United States Coast Guard and stayed in service until he was eligible for retirement. After that time he worked for COSTCO, then went to work for the Kent County School District as a bus driver. He retired from that job in 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne, two step-sons, Chris (Jessica) Jordan and their two children Rowan and Bruce, of Tacoma, WA and Les (Elvia) Jordan and their two children, Corbin and Caia, of Midland, TX; his sister Kathy (Dave) Burrup, Aberdeen, ID and his loving niece Korinda (Derek) Sprague, Colorado Springs, CO.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, his parents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Burial will take place in the Tahoma Veterans Cemetery, Kent, WA.
