Larry Weldon Poulson

Larry Weldon Poulson was born March 12, 1952 Aberdeen, ID, and died tragically on Monday, June 6, 2016. He is the son of Carol and Weldon Poulson.

He attended Hillcrest Elementary School and graduated from American Falls High School in 1970. He started working for Barkdull Ranch after high school. He met Deborah (Ankrum) Poulson in the summer of 1972 and married January 1973. They had three children, Kristan July 1976, Brandon August 1979, and Jackie February 1981. They divorced in 1996.

Larry worked for his dad and Jack Poulson in 1975 until 1976 when he started working for Agri Beef Snake River Cattle Company in American Falls. He continued to work there until retiring 2010. After retiring, he purchased a home in Chubbuck, ID, and lived there until his passing. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2002. He was a member of the LDS Church. He served in the Cub Scout program and was currently involved in the singles committee.

His hobbies included riding horses, shooting guns, fishing, cattle branding, gardening, a beekeeper, coaching his kids, spending time with family/friends, country swing dancing, and helping others.

Larry is survived by his mom, Carol Poulson, Aberdeen, ID; daughter, Kristan Young (Kenny) Filer, ID; son, Brandon Poulson (Melissa) American Falls; five sisters; two brothers; six grandsons; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his dad, Weldon Poulson; nephew, Brian Hooper; and daughter, Jackie Poulson.

Family will receive friends Thursday, June 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave., Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at the Tyhee 7th Ward LDS Stake Building, 12146 Tyhee Road, Pocatello, ID 83202, with a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church.

Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5th Ave., Pocatello, ID. Condolences may be made online at www.colonial-funeralhome.com.
