Ruby Mae Petersen

Ruby Mae Petersen, 95, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband “Pete”, on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

She was born June 17, 1918 in Scobey, MT. She married the love of her life Peter C. Petersen on Jan. 11, 1946.

She attended Bible school along with Pete in Bellevue, WA, where they both graduated and were ordained in the Assembly of God denomination.

They became the ministers in First Assembly of God in American Falls on Dec. 4, 1957 and ministered continually until June 4, 1983.

Their ministry was a team effort with “Sis” Pete, as she loved to be called, filling in all the extracurricular gaps that inevitably go with a church ministry. Their ministry included hospital visits, jail ministry, nursing home ministry and they were always available 24/7 for their church people and anyone else.

Her faith in Jesus was without question. She had an infectious, positive outlook on life that no one could deny, regardless of circumstances or conditions. She had the gift of hospitality, taking food to the sick, watching children for a parent that needed it, or praying for the needs of anyone who would ask. She was often filling the pulpit along with Brother Pete, her husband, as opportunity came. She was a very good speaker.

The church facility in existence today was built during the years of their ministry in American Falls. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by two children: Charlene Golay of Sandy, UT; John and Pat Petersen of Port Orchard, WA; and four grandchildren.

A special time of remembrance was held during the July 14 morning worship service honoring the Petersens’ memory in the American Falls Christian Fellowship.
